Economic Immigration Streams
Federal Skilled Workers:
Skilled workers are chosen as Permanent Residents based on their education, work experience, knowledge of English and/or French, and other selection criteria. Minimum number of points must be achieved for applicants to be considered.
Federal Skilled Trades Workers:
This stream aims at recruiting workers who have the skills and experience required for specific trades. A shortage of workers in skilled trades workers in Canada led to the opening of this new stream in 2012 which does not require applicants to meet a minimum number of points to be considered.
Canadian Experience Class:
The simplest of all programs, CEC allows applicants to become permanent residents if they acquired one year of full time, Canadian work experience in a specific job. Work experience must have been acquired with proper authorization and permits.
Quebec Skilled Workers:
Applicants interested in this stream must first apply for a certificate of selection (Certificat de sélection du Québec) from the Province of Quebec before applying to Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
